week 1 term 2 2017

welcome back for term 2- ready, set, go.......

letter of the week is Nn

This term we will be thinking and learning about Matariki.

Matariki is the Māori name for the cluster of stars also known as the Pleiades. It rises in mid-winter – late May or early June. For many Māori, it heralds the start of a new year. Matariki literally means the 'eyes of god' (mata ariki) or 'little eyes' (mata riki).

Watch this space for our school events celebrating matariki

We will also be learning about keeping ourselves safe.

Cross country will be happening on week 6. - June 6
so I've been out fishing over the break ...some great trout fishing in the South Island back country....looking forward to hearing what the children have been up to!
