Jack Flash and the Jumpin Beanstalk'
 Friday 24th July @ 1:50pm
New Zealand Playhouse - 'Jack Flash and the Jumping Beanstalk

"Jack Flash and the Jumping Beanstalk" by Gregory Cooper $4:50

It’s an environmental emergency of preposterous proportions! Giant pieces of garbage keep dropping on the hapless inhabitants of A Land Far Far Away and nobody knows who’s responsible. As usual when anything bad happens, all eyes turn to Jack Flash, the young boy with a long history of practical jokes and mischief making. The Mayor even decides to ‘cowfiscate’ his favourite cow and only friend Daisy as punishment. Jack knows the only way to clear his name is to find out who this giant litterbug really is, and with the help of a feisty Mexican Jumping Bean determined to sprout,Jack begins the climb of his life. Our popular writer Greg Cooper is back with more laugh-a-minute theatre catering for ages 5-13. This interactive adaptation of Jack and the Beanstalk will have your school (including teachers) on the edge of their seats from start to finish as they joinJack in his quest to save the environment.

What is Matariki?

Matariki is the Māori name for the star cluster known as thePleiades. Traditionally for Māori when it appeared just before dawn in late May or early June, it signalled the start of theMāori New Year. For some tribes, the rising of Puanga (Rigel in Orion) signals the start of the New Year. In the early 2000s TeTaura Whiri i te Reo Māori (Māori Language Commission), the Ministry of Education and the Museum of New Zealand Te PapaTongarewa, became involved in the revival of Matarikicelebrations.
