the term is rushing by!!! next week we have our junior show .....dances and singing from each of the new entrant/ year 1 classes.The times for the show are:Wednesday 12 November 2pm- 3pm and Thursday 13 Nov 6.30 pm to 7.30pm .Please check you children's bag for a notice about this! Children need to be in the classroom on Thursday evening by 6.10pm
I made an error and have now corrected the times!For our dance we need the boys to be in white shirt and dark trousers and the girls in black short leggings and plain black T shirt...we have made little skirts for the girls.
Thursday this week we have the Jump Rope for Heart .....sponsorship is due on the day and we will be running skipping events fron 11.20am through until lunch time....whole school activity.
swimming begins week 6! 18, 25 November at 2pm and 2 and 9 December 2pm.

We enjoyed the privilege of a full day at Whakarongatai Marae on Tuesday this week. A wonderful learning and sharing experience with Waikanae school. Finding out about our place and the history and korero ...stories about Waikanae and the 3 iwi of our area was invaluable learning .

welcome back to term 4 2014
So much happening this term so keep watching this space for updates.
Children's work will be increasingly added to our pages and they may also get to do their own publishing on the blog like week 10 term 3.
We will be doing clay creations this term and also we have a mini production which will show case the children's dancing skills!

We’ll cross the river at the narrow part.

We went to the Waikanae River and we saw a crane. We saw a steel flower and I went with Finn and I heard a pirate song.
I went to see the crane at Waikanae River and its name is Roseanna!

rhyming words...let's talk lots about rhyme..make games with the children...play competitions on rhyming words....hear the same sounds....have fun with rhyme.
DOUBLES.....1+1

numbers to 10 .....2+8, 3+7 etc finger play and counting fingers up plus fingers down to 10
Dice patterns.....board games are great for learning the dice patterns quickly.
Count backwards and forwards from ANY number to 30
We are doing 3x2 and more as....three groups of 2....make and then write.
We are saying 15 bugs....3 bugcatchers....how many in each bug catcher ? and then ..... 15 fairshared between 3 and written as........15÷3= 5 ( you can try this with all sorts of other scenarios!)
